The layout of Collegiate Series of Poker (CSOP) is unique, and I think it adds a nice break to the all too familiar layout of your typical poker rooms (Full Tilt, Pokerstars, etc). CSOP is set up to mimic a college atmosphere, from the beer cans and college streamers in the lobby, to the dirty socks and bras laying around in the table area.
Everything about the game screams out college, except for the opponents. I went in expecting to mop up a few easy games, but was surprised, and pleased, to find out that there is a good competitive level at CSOP. But what made me even more happy was the intuitive interface. It automatically turned off animations, because my computer was running too slowly; it monitors the connection level and displays it on the top toolbar; and after a game has ended, I received an offer to have my hand history emailed to me, so I could peruse it at my convenience.
The avatars are real photo avatars, meaning CSOP went out and took photos of real poker players and added them to the game. Does this enhance the game at all? Not really, but it's more actually more grown up than other sites I've seen (no dogs, chickens, or dragons here!) and it adds a certain level of realness to the game. Call me crazy, but I liked it.
Of course, one of the biggest perks in CSOP has to be the bonus. 300% up to 0 is a very tantalizing offer, and one that very few will pass up. Is there a catch? Yes, but we all knew that. We've been playing poker long enough to know there's no such thing as a free lunch, or bonus. The catch is, you have to earn 12 times the amount of the bonus. Hard to do? Not at all. Just takes a little time, but that's why you downloaded this in the first place right?
